My creative space - performance anxiety

Having had the two older kids home sick from school all week (one with tonsillitis and the other with gastro) I decided that when I had them tucked up in bed last night I would do something for me.

I finally started cutting into my Lauren Child Liberty fabric.  I have had a few false starts - planned on using Kate's Geometric Quilt pattern but with only a few fabrics I found it wasn't going to work for me.  I then thought about strip piecing but wanted to do something else.  I finally decided on these simple blocks.

Now I am trying to work out whether I should use white or linen for the sashing.  At the moment I am leaning towards white, with an outside border of the tree fabric.  Any and all suggestions welcome.

Lots more creative spaces over at Kirsty's.

And for the person who wanted to know about the book fabric in my last post (you commented anonymously so I can't email you) it is part of the Victoria and Albert Grand Tour Fabric collection.  I would love to get my hands on a fat quarter pack... I got my book fabric from The Cherry Tree

  1. that looks super - love that each of the little trees looks like a landscape with a border around...
Is the tree fabric a liberty print? Love it.

  5. Even though I'd usually opt for the linen in a snap, I reckon the white looks fresh as fresh and allows those fabrics to SING!

  6. Oh this is looking lovely. It is an 'into the fairytale woods' kind of quilt.

  8. Gorgeous fabrics! I like the contrast of the white best, but I'm always a fan of linen, so it's a tough call.

  10. Really beautiful fabrics. I like the linen best. The tree fabric is quite amazing. Is that Liberty too?

  11. Wow, how gorgeous is that going to be!
I love them both but I think the top one makes more of a feature of the prints. Hope the smalls are feeling better by now.
