Happy New Year

Hi there, I didn't mean to disappear for the best part of a month.  December disappeared in a blur of doll limbs and clothes. I had every intention of finishing my Christmas orders by mid December so I could sew a few things for my children but ended up delivering my last three dolls on Christmas Eve!

Here are just some of the dolls that left our place over the last six weeks.  I have quite a big soft spot for the blondie in the top row.

We had a lovely Christmas day and since then have been making the most of having the Mr around (he travels a LOT).  There has been quite a bit of this going on....

(and yes I did almost cry when I opened the box and found not one but three separate instruction books - all the size of a magazine, and again when I tried to move the finished product and dropped it!!!!)

Despite the enormous instructions booklet and the hours it took to build, if you have a Harry Potter fan I can't recommend the lego enough. The attention to detail is amazing.

Some of this....

and even a bit of this.

I will be fairly irregular for the next few weeks as we make the most of our summer holidays.  I hope you all have a relazxing start to the New Year.

What a weekend

It was so nice to see some sunshine this morning after the deluge of rain we have had this week.  The girls and I are planning a relaxing morning after what has been a huge weekend for us.

The boys flew to Townsville on Friday to take part in a ceremony to honour a much loved father, father-in-law and grandfather.  A new soldier's club was being opened at the Army base in Townsville, and was named after my husband's father.

It has been a week of mixed emotions - so proud and happy that Mike is being recognised and honoured, but sad that he isn't still with us, and sad too that the girls and I couldn't make the trip to Townsville.

The big girl had her end of year dancing concerts this weekend too.  I helped backstage on Friday and Saturday night (have you ever tried to keep fourteen 6-8 year olds in tap shoes quiet?) but got to watch the matinee performance yesterday.  The girls all danced beautifully and were a credit to their teachers.

We were very sad to learn last night that Poppy's ballet teacher will be moving to Sydney for twelve months to completer her RAD training - a huge accomplishment for her, but we will miss her and be counting the days till she is back.

The fun hasn't stopped yet though.  The boys fly back in this morning and then we are heading off to a Christmas party this afternoon.

My creative space

It is crazy here today.  I am having one of those days where there is physically not enough hours in the day for me to get done all the things that HAVE to be done today.

My creative space is a shot from last night - I bought this fabric about 12 months ago, and have had the dress cut out since then too.  Late last night I actually sat down and sewed the bodice together.  I doubt I will get any further today, but hope to have it finished to wear to the Mr's Christmas Party on Sunday.

Must dash as I have to pick the boy up from preschool, drop a doll off with her new owner before getting the big girl early from school for an appointment.  Somewhere in there I have to whip up something delicious for the preschool Christmas Party tonight (which will probably turn out to be frozen sausage rolls - superwoman I am not!)

Lots more spaces at Kirsty's.
