Finished and gifted!
Remember these?
It was my grandmother's 85th birthday last Thursday. After seeing this gorgeous photo earlier in the year my cousin Jo and I decided that would be the perfect birthday present for Granny (truly a Granny blanket!).
Jo and I delivered the blanket on Friday and it was very well received. Granny rang me this morning to say how much she loves it, and that she just can't stop looking at it.
It is a wonderful feeling to know that we worked so hard on something, managed (just) to get it finished on time and have the gift truly appreciated.
So the details:
We used Woolganics 8ply organic wool. It is just divine to work with, and feels lovely once the blanket is finished. The blanket has a nice weight, but isn't too heavy. I think we used 3 balls of each colour (6 colours in total) and 10 balls of the white.
There are 168 squares in the blanket, which are made from this pattern. We joined the squares as we went using this tutorial, and also wove the ends as we went - I am all about not having to weave in at the end.
The edgings was based on this tutorial here. It was super quick and easy to do, and finished the blanket off beautifully.
looks fantastic Michelle and well done on the weaving in as you go, that's how I would have to do it too otherwise it would never get done.
